Where are we located? A two minute drive across the main city centre bridge and you have reached your destination.

TUCK occupies zero level of an uber-modern home designed by the award-winning architectural team Acre Architects built on a hectare of undeveloped land in the heart of the city’s heritage district (hence the project’s name, ’Into the Wild‘; see ongoing coverage of the project in the prestigious journal International Architecture & Design).

Why TUCK? The studio’s name was inspired by those canteens that were such a part of the summer camps many of us attended as children. Every morning we’d line up, waiting for it to open its doors. Once inside, dollar bill or mess of loose change clutched in our hot little hands, we’d agonize over the day’s selection of treats, novelties, and minor treasures. TUCK — featuring the finest in affordable design by some of the world’s most respected manufacturers (with the opportunity for the occasional splurge, too, of course!) — represents a grownup version of those first and formative ‘tuck’ canteen experiences.

Our hope for TUCK is that it quickly establish itself as a favorite destination stop for personal design shopping, in the city and in the region in general. We’d also like it to be high on everyone’s list of the best sources for wedding registries and corporate design gifts.

While we’re obviously interested in cultivating a hitherto underdeveloped niche in the marketplace, TUCK is committed to complementing the area’s vibrant community of artists’ studios.

In sum, TUCK will provide the locus and anchor of a design studio devoted to celebrating the best in international, domestic and local contemporary design.
