Who does Judith follow?: ” I don’t really follow other interior decorators or interior designers all that closely. I’m a firm believer that to be creative you don’t look to other people’s styles as it will only inhibit and otherwise limit your own creativity, and you end up just plagiarizing. Although I respect certain designers (i.e. TV biggies) I don’t want to know how they are designing anyone’s space.  I find it more beneficial to follow good architecture and industrial designers and one-of-a-kind artists. Figuring out how I can incorporate their designs into my client’s creative space gets me excited. As a result, I think my clients end up with spaces that are uniquely theirs, not an imitation of something they’ve seen on TV or in a magazine.” – Judith Mackin

Here are a few people in the design world I’m watching:

Interior Designers:  Julie Carlson (Remodelista), Julianne Moore, (Kinfolk), Ti Chang,
Industrial Designers:  Tom Dixon, Mason, Brothers Dressler, Omer Arbel (Bocci), AutoBan, Douglas Coupland, Jaimie Hayon, Jasper Morrison, Marcel Wanders, Harry Allen, Castor, Paul Rowan, Lindsay Adelman
Architects:  Norm Architects, Bruce Mau, Patricia Urquiola,
Artists:  Chris Lloyd, David Shirgley, Ralph Steadman, David Wiseman, Jenny Holzer,
Fashion: Alexander McQueen, Ted Baker, Tom Ford

What is with the pink pig, you ask?  Well, it’s a lovely sketch Lise Hansen did for my branding, based on Harry Allen’s ‘PIG IN THE FORM OF A BANK‘.  Allen is an industrial designer from New York who produces these pigs in various colors, textures and in limited editions.  One of the signature pieces my clients receive after an interior design project is completed to everyone’s satisfaction is their very own pig to have, hold and otherwise display .  We also sell them through TUCK Studio!
